YEY! IT'S HERE!

November's pattern for the "Wish You Well" B.O.M arrived last night so I printed it up right away ready to start today. I had a bit of a turn this morning and my blood pressure dropped rather low so I thought my plans had gone awry but I recovered and have just finished tracing the stitcheries and choosing the threads which are bagged and ready to pick up and stitch. I just have to go a bit slower with everything today.

Our shops have reopened and although I am not rushing out to buy anything I was pleased that I could go to buy some lace yesterday. We had actually pulled in the car park of Bunnings to buy some potted blooms but hubby's mask broke. Light bulb moment....go to Lincraft just around the corner and buy a disposable one and look for some lace. Voila! Done! Hopped back in the car and hubby tried to put the new mask on . It broke!!! Hence we never went back to Bunnings and my wind blown droopy flowers have not been replaced.

Due to Covid restrictions I haven't seen my youngest daughter since February but we text and chat a lot on the phone. On her day off working from home she carved a full size pumpkin for Halloween . She has previously done smaller pumpkins but this was the first large one she tackled. It is the Hat Box ghost from the Haunted Mansion.

I have finished a lovely book which I saw on Sue's ( Kiwi Kid) blog a while ago. A new author has now been added to my list. The descriptions of Melbourne and Mildura are particulary good and very acurate. My dad lived in Mildura as a kid and I 'fact checked ' with him.

I love to see what people are reading on their blogs and have been directed to authors I have never considered before. Needless to say, I have just received 3 more books from Booktopia and one more is still on the way. I mention the company because they are very prompt despite Covid , the books always arrive undamaged and they are an Australian company.

Happy stitching and reading.

UP TO DATE

Come on November! I am now up to date with the B.O.M blocks, yey! Once again much angst was going on choosing fabrics to piece the blocks and I eventually just had to go with the flow. I am not entirely happy with the final choices but I want to complete this project so it doesn't just become another UFO I rediscover in a decade's time.

I may still decide to add some lace to some blocks but until our shops reopen I do not have much to choose from. The next step is to sew the first 2 rows of blocks together as I am not going to add appliqued squares that I had started to make.

Looks like I may just have to rummage through my UFOs until the November pattern arrives.

Happy stitching.

DONE!

Not much stitching has been happening here this past week but I did finish the last October B.O.M stitchery. All 3 are done.

I chose to not satin stitch the central circle on the top left stitchery . I have also slightly changed the strip of flowers by using several colonial knots in the centres and adding lines on each petal from the centre out.

It has been another quiet week here apart from health issues and it looks like lockdown restrictions are easing tomorrow so I am looking forward to seeing my grandsons.

Thanks for visiting and keep safe.

OCTOBER STITCHERIES

On my last post I had traced the October designs ready to stitch. I have finished the heart and have started the larger one.  Just one more to do.

I finished reading this book a couple of nights ago.

It is nearly time for me to order some more books as I only have 3 left on the shelf. I started one of them but I am finding it hard to get into. Don't you hate that especially when you have bought the book? Ah well, I shall give it a chapter or 2 and hopefully it will draw me in.

I have used a slightly smaller font this time so please let me know if it is ok.

Keep safe, keep smiling and happy stitching.

ANOTHER WEEK

Another week has passed with little stitching done but I am so glad that October's B.O.M arrived. This has been the one project that I have committed to keep up to date . Yesterday I traced the 3 stitcheries and started one of them.

I have needle turned the final border on my Little Lucy quilt and just need to remember how to mitre the corners and needle turn the last bits. Sorry, no pic.

I have the font on the largest and it looks great when I type. However it is still smallish when I publish it. Any ideas or is it the largest this new blogger has? After each pic is loaded it returns to teeny text and I have to reselect again. Grrrrr.

I hope some of you are enjoying time with  family and friends unlike many of us here in Vic. The small ease of restrictions hasn't changed anything for me but it looks like many people have abused the ease they have been given.

Stay safe and keep smiling.

A LITTLE BIT MORE

Some progress is better than none. My main stitching focus has been on my pandemic project, the B.O.M, despite still having a few UFOs. I am now awaiting October's pattern to do some more stitcheries so fabric auditioning has been my focus and finishing off those little needle turned stitcheries on some blocks. I have done 2 of those and have this one ready to do. I am finding the oval shape a bit challenging.

August's block has been pieced.

Here are the blocks all together with the 3rd row ( September's block) ready for auditioning.

Today I have pinned the final border on my Little Lucy quilt ready for needle turning. I had nearly forgetten about it so decided to get on with it straight away. Maybe I will have a pic of it next post. Fingers crossed.

Angel Blessings and many healing hugs to those I know are unwell.

BLESSED

Another week of stage 4 lockdown . Tourists have arrived en masse from uptown ignoring the 5km radius limit and curfew . Here am I going out one day a week for supplies not even being able to travel 15 minutes to my daughter's yet those special entitled people can travel around 80km plus???  This pandemic is very different from the ones 100 and 200 years ago. People never had the comforts and technology that we do, well, most of us. They really did it hard. It is my youngest daughter's birthday today and I haven't seen her since February but we have had the luxury of texting, phoning and video chats. I just enjoyed a lovely video chat with her to say happy birthday and see what gifts she has received. We are so blessed .

Anyhoo, I digress. July's block has been pieced . I haven't yet needle turned that added piece and I need to do the same with other blocks.

Some of the squares for the borders have been prepared ready to needleturn the hexies on them. I am doing hexies instead of circles and have fussy cut some of them.

I have finished another book. Despite the depressing life he lead , this memoir was told in quite a humourous way and I found myself giggling quite a lot. This book is one of my  favourites. I only have 2 other favourites...The Mists of Avalon, and Years of Wonder. ( or was it Year of Wonders? )

I would love to know if you have lifelong favourite books.

Angel Blessings.

P.S...still getting used to new blogger.
