HEXIES, CROCHET AND QUILTING

I have been feeling poorly the past couple of days with constant headaches and sleeplessness but I feel uplifted having nearly completed a project and starting 2 more. The yummy yarns sitting in their beautiful organza bag were begging me to put crochet hook in hand and start my Dune blanket.

3 packs of precut hexies arrived last week so I started basting some last night. I am planning to make a table runner but have no idea what design I am doing. Hopefully, I will work it out as I go,

My little quilt has been hand quilted using perle thread which I usually prefer.

So, this afternoon I plan to trim the little quilt and find some fabric for the binding and perhaps design the label to finish it off.

It is rather cool here again so it is perfect weather to sit and crochet or stitch. I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

ON A ROLL

Yesterday was a very productive day for me in my sewing room and today is no exception either. As usual, I tend to get enthused around 4pm then find myself resenting being interupted by having to make something for dinner. Fortunately, meal preparation had been partly done so I didn't have to leave my creativity behind for long. I really wanted to make the binding for my little quilt. Hmmm, green or red? Hubby and I both agreed that red would be best. So, last night I completed stitching the binding and today I have made a sleeve and pinned it to the back ready to stitch. I also drew up and traced the label ready to stitch.

The other little quilt top is complete ready to sandwich, baste and quilt.

Remember my owl stitchery ? I framed it today.

It feels so good to actually see things through from start to finish instead of half finishing projects and putting them away for later.

Now, back to my angel quilt.

ALMOST A FINISH

Hasn't it been a cool one this past week down south! My bones feel like they have ice in them which permeates out to my skin. I am already longing for summer before winter has begun. At least I have had a lovely light warm baby blanket sitting on my lap as I crocheted the final rows and borders.

I know it looks wonky but according to the instructions  I need to pin it into its shape ,  place damp towels on it and let it dry. I guess this is what they call" blocking" in the crochet world. I certainly hope it looks better after that procedure!! The edge was crocheted in crabstitch, a new one for me. It gives it a solid tight finish and is simply UK double crochet done left to right instead of right to left. I learned that from google and You tube hehehe.

I thought it was about time I got back to my angel quilt so I managed to completed borders on 2 blocks. Only about 3 or 4 blocks need their borders now and then the fun part of piecing will begin.

I started to hand quilt the little star quilt but some of the seams do not meet properly. Even though they are only a poompteenth out it becomes very obvious when the quilting stitches show. So, instead of using perle thread I am using quilting thread so it doesn't show up as much. Well, that's the plan says I rolling my eyes.

I am itching to start my Dune blanket now but I am trying to make an effort to finish my 2 little quilts first. Ofcourse, my angels need attention too.

I hope you all had a lovely Mothers Day .

HOORAY FOR CROCHET

Crochet bliss arrived on my doorstep yesterday all the way from the UK. A lovely organza bag bundle of my favourite yarns is begging to be opened so I can start my Dune blanket.

I really do need to restrain myself from starting the blanket because I am currently crocheting munchkin number 2's baby blanket with the pattern and ever so soft yarn that also came from the UK.

I definately have the crochet bug and need to think about finishing my 2 little quilts.

I know what I shall be doing this weekend and I hope you enjoy yours.

Angel Blessings.

SANITY STITCHING

Twelve months ago my mum broke her hip playing table tennis and I had weeks of hospital visits to assist my dad to. Well, almost a year to...
