ANGELS PART 1

It has taken a while to get to this point so I was delighted to complete the first pieced section of my Angel quilt yesterday. I was a little worried about sorting placement of all the squares but I think it looks okay. Hmmmm, it appears that 2 polar bears are photo bombing.😀

My hexie garden has continued to bloom and grow.

The sun is shining but the winter chill is getting into my hands and legs so my stitching has slowed today. I hope you are enjoying your weekend, keeping warm and stitching. ( if you are in the UK I believe you are in for a heatwave, so keep cool. )

GROWING HEXIE GARDEN

On my last post I was finishing my 3rd hexie flower. Now there are 7.

A few minutes ago I stitched a label to my Crazy Cats quilt.

Yey! My quilt is officially done after having it quilted back in 2016. One cannot rush these things hehehe.

I have been cutting more squares for my angel quilt but still have about 100 more to do so maybe, just maybe, I can start piecing the quilt very soon.

Have a lovely weekend and I thank you for visiting.

Angel Blessings.

PROGRESS

Making progress brings me joy and urges me to keep stitching until a project is completed. Yesterday I finished the last 2 angel blocks.

The sashings are made with 2 and a half inch squares and I still have about another 150 to cut,

I am also making progress with my EPP table runner. 2 and a half flowers are done.

My crochet is growing.

THE UPSIDE OF ICKY WEATHER

It is only officially 2 days in to winter and I am over it already.  Wet, cold, windy gloomy days are not exactly uplifting but they are perfect days for a bit of crochet or stitching while watching a movie , listening to a podcast, or simply binge watching a TV series .  I have been determined to complete projects and to finish everything I start instead of putting it away to finish off later. In my experience " later" usually ends up years later or completely forgotten!  I vow that there shall be no more surprise unfinished discoveries when sorting through my sewing room.  So, this weekend I put the binding on my Crazy Cats quilt which was finished and quilted back in 2016. Just a sleeve and label required now.

My 2nd little quilt has now been bound as well. Again, a sleeve and label shall see it completed. I have placed a peg next to it so you can see the size of this quilt.

I have enjoyed the calming rythm of crocheting most evenings .

Keep snug and warm.

Angel Blessings.

HEXIES, CROCHET AND QUILTING

I have been feeling poorly the past couple of days with constant headaches and sleeplessness but I feel uplifted having nearly completed a project and starting 2 more. The yummy yarns sitting in their beautiful organza bag were begging me to put crochet hook in hand and start my Dune blanket.

3 packs of precut hexies arrived last week so I started basting some last night. I am planning to make a table runner but have no idea what design I am doing. Hopefully, I will work it out as I go,

My little quilt has been hand quilted using perle thread which I usually prefer.

So, this afternoon I plan to trim the little quilt and find some fabric for the binding and perhaps design the label to finish it off.

It is rather cool here again so it is perfect weather to sit and crochet or stitch. I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

ON A ROLL

Yesterday was a very productive day for me in my sewing room and today is no exception either. As usual, I tend to get enthused around 4pm then find myself resenting being interupted by having to make something for dinner. Fortunately, meal preparation had been partly done so I didn't have to leave my creativity behind for long. I really wanted to make the binding for my little quilt. Hmmm, green or red? Hubby and I both agreed that red would be best. So, last night I completed stitching the binding and today I have made a sleeve and pinned it to the back ready to stitch. I also drew up and traced the label ready to stitch.

The other little quilt top is complete ready to sandwich, baste and quilt.

Remember my owl stitchery ? I framed it today.

It feels so good to actually see things through from start to finish instead of half finishing projects and putting them away for later.

Now, back to my angel quilt.

Angel Blessings.

ALMOST A FINISH

Hasn't it been a cool one this past week down south! My bones feel like they have ice in them which permeates out to my skin. I am already longing for summer before winter has begun. At least I have had a lovely light warm baby blanket sitting on my lap as I crocheted the final rows and borders.

I know it looks wonky but according to the instructions  I need to pin it into its shape ,  place damp towels on it and let it dry. I guess this is what they call" blocking" in the crochet world. I certainly hope it looks better after that procedure!! The edge was crocheted in crabstitch, a new one for me. It gives it a solid tight finish and is simply UK double crochet done left to right instead of right to left. I learned that from google and You tube hehehe.

I thought it was about time I got back to my angel quilt so I managed to completed borders on 2 blocks. Only about 3 or 4 blocks need their borders now and then the fun part of piecing will begin.

I started to hand quilt the little star quilt but some of the seams do not meet properly. Even though they are only a poompteenth out it becomes very obvious when the quilting stitches show. So, instead of using perle thread I am using quilting thread so it doesn't show up as much. Well, that's the plan says I rolling my eyes.

I am itching to start my Dune blanket now but I am trying to make an effort to finish my 2 little quilts first. Ofcourse, my angels need attention too.

I hope you all had a lovely Mothers Day .

Angel Bless
