A LITTLE STITCHING

Oh dear! I apologise for my last post, the 1st one for the year, turned out all higgildy piggildy. Well, it did my end! For some reason the font was different sizes and I can't seem to attach links.  So, here's hoping this one is okay. I never received email notifications of comments either .

I have done very little stitching due to health issues with hubby and myself but I find that a little stitching here and there certainly lifts my spirits. Jennyhas a lovely monthly club called Let's Stitch Again and this is one of January's stitcheries that I started.

I still haven't pieced all my blocks together from Gail's B.O.M last year but it is on my list to do this week.

Stay safe and well.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hello and a very Happy New Year to you. May this year bring an abundance of good health and love to you all. I am sitting outside on my verandah sipping the last delicious drops of champers after a nice simple lunch here with my parents. My hubby is asleep as he has been unwell the past 2 days with back problems so I am savouring some time to myself.

I have not yet ventured into my sewing room to do a big clean up and stitch the BOM blocks together but I have found some lovely new projects to do from Jenny's  blog. There is a sweet B.O.M and her monthly stitching projects to purchase are on my list. I need / want some quick stitcheries to frame in hoops as well as a quilt project so my enthusiasm has been reawakened and now I need to get into that sewing room and sort everything out. I have heaps of UFOs on my list this year and a Christmas quilt to start so I think sewing for 2021 is organised.

Have you planned your year's sewing? Do you do an annual sewing room clean up?

Keep safe and well.

TA DA!

Drum roll please.....here are the last 2 blocks of the B.O.M hot off the iron.

The blocks all together....

Once the quilt top is pieced I just need to needle turn a free floating circular stitchery onto it then go fabric hunting for a border. I have cleared part of my table from piles of fabric I used but they have been just shoved in the appropriate drawers which I shall need to tidy up after Christmas. I apologise for the blurred pic but my tablet is in a cover which I have to hold open while trying to hover it above the quilt and balance myself. Thus my toes included.

May you all have a wonderful safe and happy Christmas with a happier and healthier New Year ahead. Thankyou to those who sent me lovely cards and handmade decos.

STILL SLOW

This past week has been another slow one with lace added to another block and some oval needle turning which I just couldn't seem to get right.

This book didn't take long to read as it is rather small but John certainly got his very valid points across .

Meet my new reindeer. Each year I buy a new reindeer so my grandsons can count them and find the newest one. This one took my eye.

May your Christmas be shared with family and friends and the New Year bring happier and healthier times.

VERY LITTLE TO SHOW

This week I don't have much to show as I haven't been stitching much. My enthusiasm seems to wane when I come to the fabric selection process and the machine sewing stage. I have piles of fabric on the table that I have used in the B.O.M as well as those that may be used so I can see what is already in the quilt . If I put them away after use I would inevitably find myself doubling up . Trying not to place the same fabric too close to where it is in another block and making sure the same colours are not gathered in one area is a challenge. Thus the reason I dislike fabric auditioning.  However, I have handstitched some lace onto 2 blocks making sure it doesn't lift and have a couple more blocks to do .

I enjoyed Victoria Purman's book "The Landgirls" so thought I would read a couple more of hers. I just finished this one last night.

I have been very slack with Christmas gift making this year and I don't think I will be able to meet the deadline. One would think that having been in lockdown for 8 months I would have had plenty of opportunity. Nope!

I hope you are keeping safe and well.

THE LAST 2 STITCHERIES

I guess I won't be able to put off fabric auditioning for the last 2 blocks of the B.O.M much longer now that I am doing the last stitchery of the last block.  I finished this one...

The final one is in my hoop.

Having enjoyed making a bookmark for a little gift, I decided to make 2 more. Once I have success with something I tend to get the urge to make more.

Back to the B.O.M , I have some lace to handstitch onto some blocks and some needleturning to finish on one then the last 2 blocks need to be pieced. We know what that means...auditioning fabrics. Hmmm, I shall need lots of patience for that.

Thankyou for visiting my little part of blog land.

NOT MUCH IN A WEEK

Where oh where has the week gone? I am usually home most days and pace myself  but I had a few necessary appointments to attend as well as venturing out to look for clothes and gifts. As usual, I came home empty handed. You may recall that I traced 2 of the same stitcheries last week with a small project in mind.....this is it. A little gift.

A while ago I came across a  free Christmas stitchery from 'Hugs and Kisses'  and I stitched it during the week ready to create a Christmas gift.

Two  B.O.M stitcheries are finished with just 2 left. Then the dreaded fabric auditioning can not be delayed any more as the quilt shall then be ready to piece , sandwich and quilt.

Looks like I need to shop for border and backing fabric soon.

I hope your week was a good one and that you are all keeping safe and well.

MORE COLOURFUL FUN

The weather here has certainly been rather  erratic lately. Air con one day, heating the next. Sunshine, rain and high winds during the pa...
