FEELING BLAHHH

Housebound! I am used to staying home several days of the week but a week has gone by , I was on the mend, but now I am back to square one. My munchkin had conjunctivitis, gave it to his mum and then his baby brother got it. Guess who else caught it..yep , it seems that grandmas are not immune. I had it in my right eye and finally got rid of it after about 8 days but now I have it in my left eye. It is sooooo contagious and apparently one can keep reinfecting themself! To top it off I stubbed my toes this morning and have a black toe now. With blurry weeping eyes , a very bad throat and nasty ear ache I haven't been able to sew much but I thought I would try some enticing crochet. 

Black Sheep Wools put this Nature's Walk CAL on their website and I got excited. I know I haven't got back to another crochet project I started a while ago but it is a bit complicated for me to concentrate on. So, with left over yarns from my previous crochet blankets I have made 3 blocks of Nature's Walk. I need to redo the green one but I think the others are okay once they have been , what the crochet world call, ' blocked'.

I send many angel healing hugs to a couple of blog friends who are having a hard time at the moment .

SLOW PROGRESS

Any progress is good progress, right? My little quilt has been sandwiched and half hand quilted. The centre measures 8" x 8" and with the border it is "10 x "10".

The quirky cat table topper is coming along. 2 hexies finished, 5 to go.

I was recently reminded about a couple of projects I had put aside so maybe they shall make an appearance in the near future.

ANGELS ARE READY...

....for quilting! I am so pleased that I have actually completed a project without it being put aside to become a UFO. 

So, that is 3 quilts ready to go to the quilter. Yey! My little handpieced quilt is coming along nicely. 

A girl cannot be satisfied just with one hand pieced project on the go so I selected this quirky cat fabric from my stash and have traced large hexies ready to make a table topper with black borders and maybe a spotty black fabric as the centre hexie.

2 DOWN 2 TO GO

A couple of productive afternoons saw me stitching borders on my 2 UFOs. Yey! A phone call to my quilter shall be happening soon.

I had the urge to start handpiecing another little quilt. 

As for my hexie table topper, well the top is finished but I discovered that I didn't have any fabric big enough for the backing. Looks like a trip to the patchwork shop if I get a chance. Life has just got in the way again and I shall be busy with my  grandsons. So, I am unsure how much stitching will get done but other things are more important.

SLOWLY SLOWLY

Slowly, bit by bit, I am achieving something . I figured out how to handstitch mitred corners on my hexie table topper. Mitres are all done and only 2 corners need the hexies needleturned to finish the borders completely. ( see pins).

The 4 UFO Christmas stitcheries are done.

1st border strips have been cut and 2 pinned ready to sew onto my Cotton Country quilt.

I may start hand piecing this little quilt tonight.

I hope my lack of posts hasn't detered anyone and I apologise for not visiting your posts as often.

STITCH HAPPY

It has been a while since I picked up needle and thread due to a constant headache which lasted for over a week. Then I lost my stitching mojo and my projects , so close to being finished, were left unattended until now.  I have been fiddling with my hexie table topper borders trying to mitre the corners. I slip stitched 2 into place and have the other 2 pinned. Any ideas for the hand quilting once sandwiched?

Gee, some of those flowers disappear in that pic! Too many light value fabrics I suspect. Too late now.

This afternoon I found some Christmas stitching I had started earlier this year. Or was it last year? Hmmmm. So, I have been stitching this block the past hour or so.

And.....I finished another book. I love Philippa Gregory's books and this is her newest one which may be the 1st of a new series. I must look at her website.

ANOTHER UFO

I am almost embarrassed to have so many unfinished quilts stashed away. So many, that I can't even remember when I started them. I usually put labels on my quilts which state the year of completion but it will give a somewhat misguided concept of an incredibly productive year if I date all my completed UFOs 2019.  Here is my Red Brolly UFO pieced together. Ignore the background fabric I have layed it on. I was auditioning border fabrics from my stash but, alas, have none suitable. Ah well, another trip to the quilt shop.

I have made progress needle turning my hexie table topper to border strips. I figured I would try to work out how to do it prior to putting borders on my Little Lucy EPP quilt. Thanks to some sewing friends I think we have worked it out. I found it quite strange that there were no instructions on You Tube how to actually finish the borders on EPP quilts. They just showed how to finish the edges by needle turning onto one border or cutting the edge and just stitching on binding. There was no videos showing how to attach 4 borders. 

I still need to attach all borders to my other 2 quilts but I couldn't resist checking out my  UFO box this afternoon.
